Specialist Operations Unit
The Specialist Operations Unit is responsible for a number of smaller teams dedicated to tackling a broad range of criminal activity.
The Serious and Organised Crime Unit (SOCU) is Thames Valley Police’s primary unit dedicated to tackling serious, organised and cross-border crime.
This includes offences such as armed robbery, drug manufacture and supply, firearms supply and high-value burglary series.
The Technical Support Unit provides support, equipment and deployments against all types of criminality, and consultancy to the Force for major technical purchases and projects.
The audio visual section provides the primary means of handling audio visual services (for example CCTV) across the Force for intelligence and investigative purposes.
The High Tech Crime Unit provides a facility for handling information technology (IT) and telephone evidence which is the subject of investigations, for example, into internet paedophilia.
