Staff support networks
Staff support networks, as indicated by their name, were originally established to support staff within the workplace.
They now also provide a wider service to the Force, as a ‘critical friend’, and can provide vital advice on numerous subjects throughout the service. Set up to support individuals from minority groups, networks can provide vital face-to-face support and work to share common concerns, issues, experiences and solutions.
Within Thames Valley Police, we have five staff support networks:
- Christian Police Association.
- Gypsy Roma Traveller Police Association (opens new window)
- Gay Police Association.
- Muslim Police Association.
- Support Association for Minority Ethnic staff (SAME).
- Women’s Network.
In addition, there are many national groups which can offer you support – some of these are listed below. We are currently actively involved with the British Association of Women Police, National Black Police Association, National Christian Police Association, National Gay Police Association, National Association of Muslim Police and the newly-formed National Trans Police Association.
