Stop and Search Independent Advisory Group

The Stop Search Independent Advisory Group (SSIAG) is made up of members of the public, all of whom are independent from the police, and all of whom have a special interest or expertise in the police use of ‘Stop and Search’.

The group meets every six months to examine the use, by Thames Valley Police, of stop and search powers which are exercised under Section 1 of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984, Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 and Section 47 of the Firearms Act 1968.

Edited minutes of the meeting are reproduced here in the interests of transparency, as are copies of certain documents which are referred to.

Production and ownership of the report rest with the Force's Diversity Unit at HQ South, to whom any queries may be addressed.
