Local priorities - 'You said, We did'
The following priorities have been identified by the community and the police:
You said: Speeding
Residents have expressed concerns around motorists speeding in residential areas and many streets being used as 'Rat Runs'.
To help in these situations we have worked closely with our Highways department and the local Community wardens. We have now set up 3 Speed Watch operations across the neighbourhood, not only to monitor traffic but to stop motorists speeding through these residential areas. We also worked alongside our Neighbourhood Action Groups (NAGS) and local Parish Councils to problem solve the issues using local expertise and involvement.
You said: Burglary
The local community have concerns regarding Burglaries in the area.
Working with our partners the Community Wardens, we organised two Burglary Road shows where we handed out crime prevention material and gave owners advice on securing their homes. The Neighbourhood team also visited victims of burglary and offered reassurance and advice to prevent them becoming repeat victims. We then extended this to cover surrounding homes where we again delivered crime prevention advice on keeping homes and property secure.
You said: Residential streets being used as ‘Rat Runs’.
The Community expressed concerns around residential streets being used as ‘Rat Runs’.
1. Working alongside the RBWM Highways Department, RBWM Community Wardens and local residents we organised three ‘Community Speedwatch’ operations across the Neighbourhood. 2. We worked alongside our local NAGs and the Parish Council, to problem solve the issues using local expertise and involvement.
These are being dealt with by your neighbourhood policing team in partnership with residents and other agencies. Progress will be reported in the Neighbourhood updates.
